We’ve collected the most popular entries to give you a great guide on some of the most beautiful, exciting places to take your caravan, just in time for the summer! Read on to find out our competition entrants’ top 5 caravan holiday destinations in the UK.
Norfolk managed to squeeze into our top 5 list, and rightly so! It’s a beautiful county with plenty of great caravan parks right on the coast! Whether you’re looking for thrilling theme parks, wildlife gardens, or national parks, Norfolk has you covered; and it’s fun for the whole family! We had to mention the famous Norfolk Broads. With over 125 miles of navigable, lock-free waterways to explore; the stunning marshlands, woodlands and reeds are beautiful all year round.
Another beautiful coastal region, Dorset is famous for the Jurassic Coast – 95 miles of coastline from East Devon to Dorset, with rocks that are around 185-million years old. Durdle Door is one of the most iconic landmarks in the region, a natural limestone arch standing out of the sea. Dorset is home to so many beautiful beaches, national trust properties and towns that you’ll always have somewhere to explore!
3. The Lake District
Renowned for its rolling hills, mountains, and sprawling forests, not to mention the lakes! At around 912 square miles, the Lake District National Park is the largest national park in England, and a walker’s paradise. It’s even been given World Heritage status by Unesco, joining the likes of the Grand Canyon, Macchu Picchu, and the Great Barrier Reef. There’s plenty of activity on the lakes themselves too, so if you fancy canoeing, kayaking or fishing, the Lakes could be the spot for you!
Cornwall took a very close second in our survey, and with good reason! Over a quarter of Cornwall is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the South Coast, Carnglaze Slate Caverns and Woodland Garden. If you’re wanting a great surfing experience, Newquay is your best bet! There are beautiful sights to see all over Cornwall, and it’s well-deserving of its place near the top of our list.
Devon won by a hair! Woolacombe Bay was a particularly popular destination in Devon. At three miles long, this picturesque bay facing the Atlantic Ocean is one of the finest beaches in Britain. In fact, the whole of Devon can’t be beaten for British beaches! If you’re in the mood for exploration, Dartmoor National Park boasts stunning landscapes of granite outcrops, water and woodlands, all set against the high open moorland. Whether you’re in the mood for relaxing or exploring, you’ll find plenty to do in Devon.
