BAND TOGETHER – 5 OF THE BEST FAMILY- FRIENDLY MUSIC FESTIVALS

Family Music Festivals in the UK.

With the buzz of the festival season upon us, you might have been thinking – maybe it’s time to take my kids to their first festival, now that they are reaching that age where they’d enjoy it.

Taking your kids to a festival might sound daunting, but there are actually a number of great festivals out there that have been designed with families in mind. Music is also so good for the whole family’s mental health.

Tickets will soon be on sale for next year’s festival season – so while we wait, whether you’re a foodie family or in your eco era, here are five family-friendly festival suggestions for you…

FOR THE ‘ALWAYS ON THE GO’ FAMILY – CAMP BESTIVAL

  • When? 31st July – 3rd August 2025 (keep an eye out for next year’s dates!)
  • Where? Lulworth Castle, Dorset
  • Who’s playing? Sugababes, Basement Jaxx, Tom Jones, The Zutons – but also Dick and Dom, Horrible Histories and Miss Americana (a Taylor Swift tribute).

There is a lot going on at Camp Bestival, especially if you are heading there with the family. In addition to the music, the action-packed activities programme includes a Kids Got Talent show and a family fancy dress competition (winners of both events will walk away with a family ticket to Camp Bestival 2026). There are family fitness workouts (a highlight is a flashmob-style group workout for all ages), retro arcade caravans, silent discos, a solar-powered cinema, a soft play tent open daily from 8.30am to 7.30pm for the under 5’s – and an enormous bouncy castle that can fit 100 festivalgoers within its great walls. You can even get Camp Kids Extra Passes which provide your child with six meals, three sweet treats, and unlimited fruit and filtered water for £49.50 – to help with the cost of food while you’re there!

FOR THE FOODIE FAMILY – THE BIG FEASTIVAL

  • When? 22nd – 24th August 2025
  • Where? Alex James’ Farm, The Cotswolds
  • Who’s playing? Nelly Furtado, Faithless, Travis, The Wombats, Mabel and Maxïmo Park.

The Big Feastival is a feast of world-class music, Michelin-starred food, and fun for the entire family. There’s a circus, a vintage funfair complete with helter-skelter, and you can go and see the greedy goats (and other farm animals) at Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park; there’s even a cooking experience for the little cooks of the family. The street food line-up is equally mouth-watering; enjoy artisan sourdough grilled cheeses, high-quality organic churros with thick melted Belgian chocolate and juicy hand-pressed burgers – in addition to the festival’s Dining Experiences.

FOR THE ARTY OR CRAFTY FAMILY – LATITUDE FESTIVAL

  • When? 24th – 27th July 2025 (keep an eye out for next year’s dates!)
  • Where? Henham Park, Suffolk
  • Who’s playing? Clean Bandits, Elbow, Fat Boy Slim, Air, Public Service Broadcasting, Sigrid.

Latitude is a playground for adults and kids alike, with comedy, theatre, poetry, literature, science and wellness, but also crafts, dance workshops and food, in addition to the world-class musical acts on offer – and it’s all set within the picturesque grounds of Henham Park. There are multiple kids’ areas, including The Enchanted Garden and The Kids Area, with highlights including group Dungeons and Dragons games in the Gaming and Music Tent, sculpture making in The Pink Flamingo Craft Tent, as well as sea shanties, a silent disco, and baby yoga. A diverse range of street food is also up for grabs.

The Green Man Festival UK

FOR THE ECO-CONSCIOUS FAMILY – GREEN MAN FESTIVAL

  • When? 14th – 17th August 2025
  • Where? Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales (near Crickhowell)
  • Who’s playing? Underworld, Wet Leg, TV on the Radio and Kneecap.

Green Man is a settlement in itself, set within the trees and mountains, and home to music, literature, film, comedy, performing arts – and a giant green man made of natural materials who is burned at the festival’s closing ceremony. There’s actually a Settlement ticket you can purchase to maximise your stay at Green Man, before the main festival begins – for three extra days and nights. There is not just a Children’s Area, but a Teenage Area too, both with a jam-packed line up of fun. Highlights include a Cinedrome showing kids’ films from 10am, a science area, a workshop zone – and don’t miss the Children’s Parade on the Sunday afternoon or the pedal-powered disco. The festival is a great opportunity for the whole family to embrace being greener and more sustainable.

FOR THE CREATIVE FAMILY – JUST SO FESTIVAL

  • When? 21st – 23rd August 2026 (They took a break in 2025)
  • Where? Rode Hall, Cheshire
  • Who’s playing? You could see the likes of Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet, Kasai Masai, Bonfire Radicals, Dana Gavanski and ICHI.

Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, Just So Festival takes place within an enchanting woodland setting in Cheshire, and it is a party of literature, arts, theatre, dance, music, comedy and creative performances, workshops and installations all designed to give festivalgoers of all ages a magical experience. Channel your inner fish, frog, fox, owl, lion, stag or bee and take part in the Carnival of the Animals. Last year, highlights included a midnight feast under the stars, storytelling around a campfire, theatre shows in the woods, live music, and circus shows. Food included woodfired pizza, posh hot chocolates, churros, and good old-fashioned fish and chips.
