The Insurance Emporium do not cover any claim as a result of any notifiable disease. A notifiable disease is any disease that is required by law to be reported to government authorities.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has now officially been registered as a notifiable disease in the UK.
For up to date information, please check our COVID-19 Help and Support Page. For information on your policy, please refer to the General Exclusion section of your Policy Wording.
The 25% Introductory Discount is available for the first 12 premium payments on lunar and calendar monthly policies or one premium payment on annual policies. We are also planning to offer a Loyalty Scheme to reward faithful customers after 12 months.
This is based on Musical Equipment insured up for £100 with no Optional Benefits selected.
A lunar monthly policy runs in periods of 28 days. This type of policy renews each 28 days upon receipt of appropriate premium.
Do I need music insurance?
Your household insurance does not always cover your musical equipment; therefore you may want specific music insurance.
What sort of equipment does your policy cover?
We cover: amps, audio & pro audio equipment, brass, DJ equipment, drums, guitar & bass, keyboard, PA equipment, percussion, piano, string and woodwind.
In addition, we also cover the following musical accessories: bags, batons, brass mutes, covers, drum mats, drum pads, ear protection, footstools, grips, gloves, headphones, metronomes, plectrums, seats, shoulder rests, stands, straps, trolleys and tuners.
Can I insure my computer on this policy?
A laptop or desktop computer can be included on this policy if they are primarily used in conjunction with the musical equipment.
Are there any items not covered on this policy?
We do not offer cover for batteries, bulbs, cables, computer memory, computer software, drum skins, fuses, leads, reeds, strings, valves or other consumable items.
Do I need to provide a list of the items I want to insure?
Yes, we need the make, model and replacement value for all items with an individual replacement value of £250 or more.
If there are any items with a replacement value of £1,000+ we also need a serial number. We will then need the total value for all other items with an individual replacement value below £250, but makes and models are not required for these items.
Is there a limit for any single item I want to insure?
The single item limit on this policy is £10,000.
Am I covered for data recovery on my equipment?
You can claim for the cost of data recovery from a hard drive or removable media; such as CD Rom, DVD, Memory Card and Flash card. The data must solely be connected to the usage of the insured items.
Is my policy still valid if I lend or loan my musical equipment to another person?
The policy is only available to the person named in the policy schedule. However, this can be extended to family members who live at the same address, if the Optional Benefit 'Family Member Cover' is added to the policy.
Do I need any specific security on my vehicle or where I keep my equipment?
Yes, full details are provided within our musical equipment insurance Security Requirements section within our policy wording.
Do you insure recording studios?
We are able to cover the musical equipment when in a studio, although we are unable to insure the building itself.
Can I insure my Record/CD collection?
'Yes, we offer an Optional Benefit 'Record/CD Collection' which would then cover your collection at home, in transit, at a venue and in an unattended vehicle, up to the value of £500.
What is 'New for Old'?
If, within 4 years of the manufacture date (a) your music equipment is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged (b) you have insured the equipment for the value of a new replacements and (c) you have chosen 'New for Old' cover we will pay up to the new replacement value.
What is 'New for Old for Life'?
If, during the working life of your music equipment (a) your music equipment is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged (b) you have insured the equipment for the value of a new replacements and (c) you have chosen the Optional Benefit 'New for Old for Life' we will pay up to the new replacement value.
I note that 'Gadgets & Mobile Phones' can be added as an Optional Benefit?
Yes, we provide cover up to £500 for eReaders, satnav and GPS devices, smart watches, fitness trackers, mobiles and tablets. This is limited to 2 claims every 365 days, except mobile phones where it is 1 claim every 365 days.
