Do I need fishing equipment insurance?
Your household insurance does not always cover sports apparatus such as fishing equipment; therefore you may want specific fishing equipment insurance.
What sort of equipment does your policy cover?
We cover: bait boats, bedchairs, bite alarms & indicators, bivvies, fishing barrows, fishing beds, fishing chairs, fishing luggage & bags, nets, night lights & head torches, poles, reels, rods, rod pods, shelters, sleeping bags, tackle box & contents, umbrellas and wheelbarrows.
Is there any equipment that you don't cover on the fishing insurance policy?
We are unable to cover cooking equipment, any items which are perishable, fishing spectacles or sunglasses.
Do I need to provide a list of the items I want to insure?
Yes, we need the make, model and replacement value for all items with an individual replacement value of £50 or more.
Am I covered for Sea fishing?
Yes, Sea fishing is covered as long as you are within coastal waters of the UK.
In addition to Sea fishing, we also provide cover for Coarse, Match, Game, Fly and Night fishing.
Am I covered if I lend, loan or hire my equipment to another person?
We will cover you in the event that your equipment is loaned or hired to a member of your immeditate family (living at the same address), but only if our 'Family Member Cover' Optional Benefit is chosen.
Am I covered if I take my fishing equipment abroad?
Worldwide cover is automatically included within each level of cover:
- Dace - 30 days
- Perch - 60 days
- Zander - 90 days
By adding our 'Extended Worldwide Cover' Optional Benefit, this would then increase cover to a total of 120 days.
Do I need any specific security on my vehicle or where I keep my equipment?
Yes, full details are provided within our fishing equipment insurance Security Requirements within our policy wording.
What else can be covered on this policy apart from my fishing equipment?
When fishing, we understand that you don’t just take your standard equipment with you. Therefore you can choose Optional Benefits to cover Gadgets and Mobile Phones, Fishing Clothes and Fishing Technology.
If I land a whopper does this policy offer a reward?
You're in luck! All you have to do is provide written confirmation from the British Record (Rod Caught) Fishing Committee (within 14 days of receiving notification from them) and we could pay out up to £1,800*.

What is 'New for Old'?
If, within 4 years of the manufacture date (a) your fishing equipment is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged (b) you have insured the equipment for the value of a new replacements and (c) you have chosen 'New for Old' cover we will pay up to the new replacement value.
What is 'New for Old for Life'?
If, during the working life of your fishing equipment (a) your fishing equipment is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged (b) you have insured the equipment for the value of a new replacements and (c) you have chosen the Optional Benefit 'New for Old for Life' we will pay up to the new replacement value.
Does this insurance cover my fishing clothes?
Yes, but you would you need to choose our Optional Benefit 'Fishing Clothes'. This provides cover for fishing clothes; in use, at home, at a fishing venue and in transit to and from a fishing venue and in an unattended vehicle. Cover is for theft, accidental loss & accidental damage up to £750 (single item limit £250).
Can I get any cover for my gadgets or mobile phones on this fishing equipment policy?
Yes, if you choose our 'Gadget and Mobile Phones' Optional Benefit.
