It’s always a joy getting the chance to catch-up with our customers, we know their hobbies are their passions: whether that’s owning a pony used for eventing, or camera equipment for a wedding photographer. Here, we caught up with Anna-Beth about her pony, Harvey.
Background
Having had ponies as a child, Anna-Beth decided to share her love of horses with her daughter when they got their first loan pony, Bonnie, who they had for four years. Sadly, as Anna-Beth shares more about her ponies with us later, Bonnie was put to sleep.
Later, Harvey then came to join the family, as Anna-Beth recounts: He came up for loan on the yard we were on and was the right size for my daughter (and me) so we loaned him for 10 months before buying. We didn’t particularly go for his breed, but his Section D breeding is excellent, and he becomes very showy once you get a saddle on him – especially in the dressage arena.
This year, Anna-Beth’s daughter went off to uni, with Anna-Beth commenting: I am ‘allowed’ to ride and definitely look after him while she’s not around.
What’s Your Horse’s Personality and What Are His Favourite Things to do?
We know horses have wonderful personalities, as Anna-Beth says: He is sweet and funny and VERY food oriented. While he gets along with all horses, he’s particularly a ‘people pony’ and loves being in the company of humans (especially if they have treats).

How did you come to choosing The Insurance Emporium?
I chose The Insurance Emporium for Bonnie due to the cost and the cover seemed better than most of the other companies. I naturally insured Harvey with The Insurance Emporium, again, due to the good experience I had had with our Bonnie.

Anna-Beth’s Experience with The Insurance Emporium:
My first experience of making a claim was for our loan pony Bonnie. She had colic in 2022 and underwent an operation to try and resolve it. She came through the operation successfully but her digestive system never recovered, and we sadly had to have her PTS.
The Insurance Emporium were really good at assisting me with the claim for the vet’s fees and also, we reclaimed the disposal and loss of use which, while it didn’t cover all the costs, really helped.”
In addition to the above claim, I’ve recently had to make a claim for a hind suspensory ligament injury for Harvey.

How Did You Find The Claims Process?
The claims process is pretty easy when you go online.
When Speaking To Staff, How Did You Find The Experience?
All my dealings with The Insurance Emporium’s staff have been great – very helpful and particularly sympathetic when dealing with the claim for Bonnie.

Why Would You Recommend The Insurance Emporium
The cover I get for the insurance premium suits my budget, and staff have been particularly helpful and sympathetic with my situation when discussing the claims I’ve needed to make. I also find the renewal process transparent and hassle free.
No one wants to have to think about their pets getting poorly, however, accidents and illnesses aren’t always preventable and the cost to treat animals, especially ones as big as horses, quickly adds up. Horse owners might want to consider horse insurance should the worst happen. Our horse insurance policies come with Death, Theft or Straying as a standard benefit, you can then tailor your policy with several additional optional benefits, including Vet’s Fees, Loss of Use, and Personal Accident to match your needs.
