One of horse riding’s oldest and most prestigious events is back! Now in its 112th year, The Royal International Horse Show will run from the 23rd until the 28th of July, and is set to be as thrilling a ride as ever. Even though it’s best known for show jumping, the six-day event has much more to offer, such as arena eventing, showing and carriage driving! Historic trophies

Some of the awards up for grabs at the event include the prestigious George V Gold Cup, Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the MS Amlin Eventers’ Challenge, all of which attract some of the best riders in the world! The royal connection to the Show can be traced back to its origins, and our current queen is the official patron. It’s not only royalty who attend the event, however, with recent years having seen celebrities such as Martin Clunes, Davina McCall and Jennifer Saunders getting in on the action!

Ladies’ Day

As with many race meets, The Royal International Horse Show 2019 has its own Ladies’ Day, which will take place this year on Saturday 27th of July. The winner of the award for Best Dressed Lady will be chosen by a surprise celebrity judge. With the exclusive Ladies’ Day Enclosure, private bar and fantastic prizes up for grabs, there’s never been a better excuse to put your best foot forward and enjoy the glamour!

ThisEsme

If you’re into both the equestrian world and the world of YouTube, you’ll be excited to hear that top equestrian vlogger ThisEsme will be making an appearance! She’ll be attending along with one of her ponies, Mickey, on Friday the 26th and Sunday the 28th between 11am and 1pm. As well as meeting members of the public, Esme will be creating vlogs live from the Show!  

Shopping

In need of some new equestrian equipment, clothing or accessories? The Charles Owen Shopping Village should have something for everyone! Bespoke and luxury saddlery and tack sellers will include CWD Sellier, Equifit and Bates. It’s not just horse riding goods, however, that’ll be on offer during the event. Home furnishings and accessories, fashion, crafts and gifts will all also be covered, with brands such as Dolly Hotdogs, House of Tweed and A Touch of Silver available!

Food and kids

Hungry bellies should find more than enough to satisfy any appetite in the Food Hall. Expect all sorts of stands and vans selling a huge variety of cuisine. Alternatively, you can always bring your own picnic! Children, even if they’re not into the sporting side of things, should be well catered for in the Tomfoolery Fun Zone. With a funfair, interactive activities, comedy magic shows and more, expect hours of fun and entertainment!
