When you’re teeing off on the fairway, you’ll want to make sure you look your best! Many golf courses have dress codes too, and you don’t want your round to be over before it’s begun! We’ve taken a look at some of the best fashion for men in golf, from classic attire to modern gear. Read on for our men’s guide to looking good on the golf course, or take a look at our women’s guide!
Loud and Bold
Just because many golf clubs have dress codes, that doesn’t mean that your outfit has to be boring! Big, bright and bold colours don’t look out of place on the fairway and can add a bit of pizzazz to your outfit. Paired with more neutral-coloured trousers or shorts, a bright polo can keep you looking smart while helping you stand out from the crowd.
Much like keeping your outfit bright and bold, don’t be afraid to let patterns appear on the golf course! You can pick up some really fashionable, comfortable patterned golf-wear that could have you looking smart on the course. Asymmetrical prints can give your outfit that eye-catching flare. If you don’t want to stand out all too much, something as classic as paisley or as simple as stripes can make you look great!
If you’re going loud and proud on top with bold colours and patterns, you’ll want to go for a more neutral colour on the bottom. Remember that golfing is an outdoor sport, so while white trousers could look great, they can quickly become mucky. A darker blue or black pair of trousers or shorts could be your best bet. If you do want to go for loud trousers, however, swap these rules around and pair your eye-catching legwear with a more neutral top.
Wearing golf-specific shoes isn’t a requirement for many courses, but it is for some! Whether they’re required or not, it’s always good for avid golfers to own a pair. A good pair of golf shoes can stop your feet sliding during the swing, potentially improving your game. There are a variety of options, too! Golf shoes come in all shapes, sizes and colours. More modern, athletic golf shoes have become common in recent years, but traditional kicks wouldn’t look out of place either!
For the most part, you’ll want to go with a classic, traditional look for your golfing accessories. A plain, white glove will always trump the patterned alternative. Although flat brims have grown in popularity, classic brimmed golf hats aren’t going out of fashion any time soon. A nice pair of sunglasses won’t just complete your outfit, they’ll also provide your eyes with some much needed protection on sunny days!
