Your Story – Geoff & Franco, Horse Insurance

A white horse called Franco stood up

Our customer, Geoff, talks us through his recent experience with The Insurance Emporium when he had to make a claim.

Background

Geoff told us all about his wife’s horse, Franco, who up until recently was used for riding. Geoff’s wife describes Franco as “such a gentleman. He’s lovely and a handsome boy. He’s just like a big baby.”

Prior to Franco, they had another horse from being a foal of four months until 27 years old. Then a few years went by when they didn’t have a horse because of Covid-19.

They found Franco from a very reputable buyer and stables and had him vetted, but unfortunately this doesn’t always mean your horse isn’t going to have any illnesses or injuries.

Geoff explains: “Franco has had two things going on. He’s had hock problems and then back/spinal problems which are ongoing and are under investigation. But between those two problems, he went and hurt himself, as horses do, and he needed emergency surgery.

Since recovering from that he’s then gone back to having the other procedures and examinations done, which we are waiting for the full report to come back on.”

How Did You Come to Choosing The Insurance Emporium?

When it came to insuring Franco, Geoff had heard of The Insurance Emporium, and he called to get a quotation. He said he spoke to “a lovely, professional lady, who took all the time in the world running me through everything that I wanted. They were really helpful and there was no sales talk, no pressure, it was perfect.”

Your Experience with The Insurance Emporium:

Geoff says: “My experience with The Insurance Emporium so far has been 100% positive and I would say that to anybody. Every time I’ve called to speak to the claim’s advisors, seeking advice before putting the paperwork in, it’s been 100% professional.”

After speaking to Geoff, he got back in touch with a further update on Franco to say: “The veterinary report has not been good reading, Franco has been advised as no longer suitable for riding, however is classed as fit to be kept as a pet, or light in-hand work as long as his condition is monitored, and his condition does not deteriorate.”

Geoff’s story only highlights how accidents, illnesses and conditions can take you by surprise and impact your horse in the long term – we wish Franco all the best in his retirement.
