SOUNDS GREAT! 5 TOP MUSIC TRENDS FOR 2019

For many of us, music is a really important part of our lives! However, as with so many elements of life, the world of music is constantly evolving, and it can sometimes seem a mammoth task to keep up! At The Insurance Emporium, we know how important it can be to stay in the know about your passions. That’s why we’ve come up with this list of 5 top music trends for 2019!

1. I get around!

The music industry has been dominated by the UK and US markets for years, with the vast majority of hits coming from English-speaking nations. Living in a world of greater connectivity, it’s easier for acts from all over the world to make a greater impact. It’s not just massive hits like Gangnam Style either! It could prove an influence in all spheres of music right down to the underground scene.

2. Immaculate conceptions

We might be seeing more of an international playing field, but there’s also been a feeling of confusion in our current Brexiting world. In uncertain times could musicians look to make sense of the world with a return to the concept album? 2018 saw the massive success of concept albums from The 1975 and Janelle Monáe. They’re able to provide a form of audio escapism, which might be just what we need at the moment!

3. Steady as a block!

It’s widely known that many artists have issues with music streaming services, so could Blockchain be the answer? It’s a method of storing and providing access to music that records data about who and what is being played, as well as when – rather than relying upon intermediaries, as most streaming services currently do. The result is that musicians could make more money from their work, and receive payment much faster, whilst listeners continue to have fantastic access to great music. It might be set to make waves into the industry this year!

4. You spin me right round!

It’s been going on for several years now, but vinyl is still making a comeback! In March 2018 it actually outsold digital downloads in the UK! 2019 could see new innovations in the world of vinyl, with “HD” vinyl becoming a possibility. This would offer a louder volume and higher audio fidelity – sounds like a great time to start building that record collection!

5. Live and kicking

With less revenue coming in from album sales, more and more bands are now finding it profitable to spend a greater time on tour. With apps such as Semitime, you can now listen to live music sets whenever and wherever you want, with the option of selecting specific tracks within a set list. It also lets artists pair with retailers to “lock” their music to a specific location, so listeners can only hear the live set when visiting designated places – like a festival, for example!
