5 OF THE UK’S MOST BEAUTIFUL HORSE RIDES!

For such a small island, the UK doesn’t want for the diversity of its scenery. From Land’s End to John o’ Groats, there are some fantastic areas for getting out and about on spectacular trips with your horse. At The Insurance Emporium, we like to help people get more from their passions, which is why we’ve put together this handy guide to five of the UK’s most beautiful horse rides!

Beautiful horse rides: Holy Island.

Peddars Way, Norfolk

If you’re in search of a route that’s simple to follow, Peddars Way could be the spot! An ancient Roman footpath almost 50 miles long, there are a variety of rides from short hacks to full day excursions. Take in the amazing sandy coastline, as well as villages and streams. The route also goes through the Brecks, an ancient heathland with many unique plants and animals, including glacial ponds!

Holy Island, Northumbria

Holy Island, or Lindisfarne, lies just a few miles off the Northumbrian coast, being cut off from the mainland twice every day by the tide. With an amazing coastline and village, there’s a lot to see, including Lindisfarne castle and 12th century priory. If you’re interested in nature, you could spot some birds and seals in and around the sea – anyone feeling brave could even go in for a dip!

Trans Pennine Trail

Beautiful horse rides: The New Forest.

Spanning 200 miles of bridleways, the Trans Pennine Trail connects the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, South Pennines and Cumbria! It offers a variety of riding, with both gentle inclines and some more serious hill climbs. Sharing the path with walkers and cyclists, the Pennine Trail’s mostly off road, so you can be sure of some peace and quiet with which to enjoy the spectacular views!

The New Forest, Hampshire

Once a hunting ground for William the Conqueror, the New Forest is now a 566 square acre national park! Once there, you can hack through the open forest and streams, or direct your horse towards the beach. You’ll be sharing your ride with the New Forest’s wild ponies that roam free, along with donkeys and cattle. There’s also a great selection of pubs and restaurants to stop in at along the way!

Coast to coast, Scotland

Beautiful horse rides: Scotland

Not for the faint hearted, this seven-day ride from Brora, in the east, to Loch Inver on the West Coast, provides a challenge that could be well worth the effort! The highland trek takes in fantastic beaches, hills, bogs, lochs and mountains, staying in hotels along the way. Along the route at Badenloch, you can even book a room at the most remote hotel in Britain!
