5 GOLFING TRENDS FOR 2019 YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS!

As with many other adventures in life, golf is changing all the time! With advances in technology and changing rules, it can be hard to keep up. So at The Insurance Emporium, we’ve come up with 5 top golfing trends to look out for in 2019. Make sure not to fore-get these!

1. No longer par for the course!

The rules of golf are changing! Revealed by the R&A and USGA, the new changes will take effect from 1st January 2019. They have been designed to help modernise the game and speed up play, and golfers of all abilities should be aware of them. Examples of some of the changes involve dropping procedure, moving the ball and out of bounds rules. The full changes can be found on the R&A website!

2. Play that funky music!

Technology has come a long way! With developments in both directional speakers and Bluetooth, listening to music anywhere and everywhere is getting easier all the time. It’s also becoming more acceptable on the golf course! It might be a great way to encourage non-golfers into the game, as well as livening up larger golf parties!

3. Eye of the Tiger

One of the best known golfers in history is back, and he’s looking grrrrrrreat! Yes, Tiger Woods has staged a comeback during 2018, but he’s all set to up his game even more during 2019, leading on from his high profile game against long-time rival Phil Mickelson! He has finally recovered from injury and personal problems, and is rising up to the challenge of his rivals. Woods has always been popular with the public, so his comeback looks set to bring more interest to the sport!

4. Out of the woods…

Still on the subject of Woods vs Mickelson: could 2019 see more pay-per-view golfing events? Rather than following traditional formats, the game was closed to the public, the golfers wore microphones, and drone coverage allowed new camera angles. What’s more, real time statistics on people’s TV screens displayed the probability of different outcomes, making it more interesting for viewers partial to placing bets. While it sounds more like boxing than golf, it could be a glimpse of the future!

 5. You drive me crazy!

It may not be 18-hole golf in the open air, but the world of crazy golf has been making a comeback that is set to continue in 2019! There has been an increase in indoor city centre crazy golf venues, and their popularity has been huge! With more people picking up putters and discovering how fun golf can be, in the long run this could mean more players on the green.

Getting out for a round of golf is always a great adventure, and we hope our list of what to look out for will help keep you in birdies for 2019!
