5 TYPES OF PET INSURANCE

Whether you’ve got a fresh-faced puppy or kitten, or an older pet that’s become a part of the furniture, our furry friends very quickly play a huge role in the family! You’ll want to give your pets all the love, attention and affection they need, in the good times and the bad. If you do share your adventures with a four-legged friend, you might want to think about taking out insurance. Read on for our guide to 5 types of insurance for your pet!

Public Liability

The first type of policy, Public Liability Only, is only available for dogs. We all know our canine companions can act out of character and do something they shouldn’t! Public Liability Insurance provides cover for your legal liability to others for compensation and costs arising out of your ownership of your dog. With this policy, you could be covered for up to £1.5m* on a lunar or calendar monthly policy. Cover for Public Liability is also included in Time Limited, Maximum Benefit and Lifetime policies.

Accident Only

Pet Insurance could also act as a safety net for you and your furry friends. Should your pet become injured due to an accident, payment for vet’s fees and treatments doesn’t always come cheap, and it might end up costing you a pretty penny! Pet insurance could help to reduce the impact of these unexpected costs. An Accident Only Pet Insurance policy from The Insurance Emporium provides cover for up to £3,000 for Vet’s Fees on a lunar or calendar monthly policy should your pet require treatment for an injury caused by an accident. It could help make a stressful time a little easier by taking away the financial burden.

Time Limited

The Insurance Emporium’s Time Limited Pet Insurance provides a range of Standard Benefits to help cover your four-legged friend. These policies are available with three different levels of cover, Bronze, Silver and Gold and offer cover for up to £6,000^ for Vet’s Fees for up to 365 days from when your pet first showed clinical signs of each injury, illness or condition. Other standard benefits include Advertising & Reward, providing help if your furry friend goes missing.

Maximum Benefit

Again, Maximum Benefit policies provide the same range of Standard Benefits as Time Limited policies, with different levels of cover available. Rather than being covered for up to 365 days since your pet first showed clinical signs, this policy type provides cover up to the maximum amount available for your chosen level of cover for each injury, illness or condition, irrespective of the time taken to reach it. Another Standard Benefit included in Time Limited, Maximum Benefit and Lifetime policies is cover for Boarding Kennel or Cattery Fees, helping to give you peace of mind that your pet is looked after should you fall ill.

Lifetime

Lifetime policies provide the most extensive level of cover from The Insurance Emporium’s Pet Insurance policies. Covering all the same Standard Benefits as Time Limited and Maximum Benefit policies, Lifetime policies provide Vet’s Fees cover up to £8,000† throughout the life of your pet, as long as the premiums are kept up to date. Each policy type can also be customised with a range of Optional Benefits to suit your needs. European Cover, for example, could cover your pet while holidaying in Europe.
