How does Brexit affect your policy with The Insurance Emporium?

Now Britain has left the EU, you might have some questions about how these changes will affect your insurance. So, at The Insurance Emporium, we wanted to reassure you, our valued customers, about your policies with us.

If you’re an existing policyholder, don’t worry. Your cover should not be affected and will remain valid. While there hasn’t been a deal yet to cover financial sectors and the insurance industry, we’ll update this page as and when we receive any updated information. We will also update policyholders directly if there is any change to the level of cover we provide.

Rest assured, we remain committed to protecting your pets, horses and the other things in life that you love. We’ve detailed information you might need to know below. New rules for businesses and citizens have been in place since 1st January 2021. Please visit the UK Government website for official, up to date information on the Brexit transition.

At the present time, there has been no impact on our policyholders’ cover. If there are any changes to your policy, we’ll make sure to notify you in advance.

What You Need to Know About Your Insurance Policy

While we continue to provide the same level of cover as always, we understand you may have some questions as to how Brexit might affect your insurance policy.

For the foreseeable future, our Pet Insurance products are not affected by Brexit. Existing policyholders will still receive exactly the same level of cover as before, and there are currently no plans to change our products for new customers.

If we do have to make the difficult decision to change any policies, rest assured existing policyholders will be notified. This page and our product pages will also be kept up to date with the most relevant information.

If you plan on travelling to an EU country with your pet, you may need to comply with certain guidelines, including microchipping your dog or cat, getting them an animal health certificate and having all relevant vaccinations up to date.

These guidelines are set to change, so we would always recommend keeping an eye on the official government pet travel advice page, and contacting your vet at least four months in advance of travelling with them.

For the foreseeable future, our Equine Insurance products are not affected by Brexit. Existing policyholders will still receive exactly the same level of cover as before, and there are currently no plans to change our products for new customers.

If we do have to make the difficult decision to change any policies, rest assured existing policyholders will be notified. This page and our product pages will also be kept up to date with the most relevant information.

If you plan on travelling to an EU country with your horse or other equines, you may need to comply with certain guidelines, including having blood tests taken and getting tested for certain diseases.

These guidelines are set to change, so we would always recommend keeping an eye on the official government equine travel advice page, and contacting your vet at least four months in advance of travelling with them.

For the foreseeable future, our Caravan Insurance products are not affected by Brexit. Existing policyholders will still receive exactly the same level of cover as before, and there are currently no plans to change our products for new customers.

If we do have to make the difficult decision to change any policies, rest assured existing policyholders will be notified. This page and our product pages will also be kept up to date with the most relevant information.

If you plan on travelling to an EU country in your caravan, you may need to comply with certain guidelines. You may need an international driving permit (IDP). If you’re planning on driving abroad, we’d recommend checking the official government advice on driving abroad.

You will also need a Green Card for both your car and caravan, which you should be able to acquire by contacting your car insurance provider. This proves that your insurance covers at least the minimum cover in the country you’re driving in.

For the foreseeable future, our Camera Insurance products are not affected by Brexit. Existing policyholders will still receive exactly the same level of cover as before, and there are currently no plans to change our products for new customers.
